Tying the Classic – it’s pretty basic, but its good to be reminded about the basics!
If you wear your tichel like this, you may want to try adding that second ribbon for decoration. I cannot tell you enough about the joy of color. I’ve resisted so far talking about the “Black Epidemic.” But I will say this. Hundreds of people have told me how much they enjoy seeing the color I wear. It brings simcha (joy)! It’s feminine! It’s beautiful! And when you look great, you’ll feel great.
The best part of this video was spending time with Rivki Silver. Aw, don’t feel left out. You can get to know her too, through her blog “Life in the Married Lane.” Its great!
There are only 2 more videos in the tichel series. After that we’veĀ already begun a new video project that you are going to love!
***Note*** This style uses a triangle (folded square) tichel. The other videos use a rectangular scarf. After a while you’ll be able to mix and match the two. But for now its good to know that the triangle tichels are usually found in a Jewish/Israeli store or online and the other scarves can be bought in a department store.
Thank you for these amazing videos! I hope they inspire women to embrace their Jewish identity and wear their crown with beauty and pride.
Could you show us how you tie your tichel? Especially the one you are wearing when you are tying Jessie’s tichel, and when you are interviewing Rivki Silver. They are so beautiful and I can’t figure out how to do it in a way that doesn’t look bulky and disheveled. Any advice on keeping it neat?
Thank you so much! Kol Tuv and Shabbat Shalom!
my apologies… when you are interviewing Shoshana Liebman.
ok, so when I was talking to Jesse, I just had on a simpple pashmina. I folded it so the width would fit my head. Then I tied it in the back. I brought both strings up, but one at a time One over, then tucked under in the back ,then the other. After wards I added a sparlkly ribbon, tied with the strings brought up and over. I hope that helps! Love, Rivka Malka
HI Anderea, its so nice that you’re out there! SO the the one that I’m wearing when I’m talking with Shoshana Liebmaan (love that lady!) is the same as the Tunisian Tie with 2 differences.
1. the bottom tichel itself is multicolored, so that gives it a little more interest.
2. I was wearing a plain purple tichel umderneath and I let an inch of it show. I think I mentioned thatin the video. I love color and I”m sensitive to what looks good with your skin. So b/c the striped tichel was too dark for me, I out that one on first.
Running out now! I’ll answer you about the other one later!
Your web sight is grate. Minky your daughter.
You are a great daughter Minky! I love you!
Hi Rivka Malka,
Thank you so much for your awesome videos and inspiration. I felt like a lone duck here in Cleveland walking around in my tichel and now with your enthusiasm and added creative ideas I feel so beautiful with my kesser adorning my head. I am even going to wear it to a chassana next month where i will probably be the only one not in a sheitel but that is ok because i feel so confident and proud in my new head wear. May Hashem continue to guide you in teaching bnos Yisrael how to connect to their inner beauty. I will definitely pass on your web site to all who say to me, “Oh that is so beautiful! How do you tie that thing?”. Birshus, can i make business cards:) Have a great shabbos.
Basya Labinsky
HI Basya, I don’t think I met you but I’ve already heard about you and your husband. My friend reccomended that I lok at your Becoming Divine site and then when I spoke to Shuli Klienman she told me the same thing! Thank Hashem the two of yu are bringing so much Light to this world! Sorry about the lone duck feeling. Think of it like Avraham Ha’ivri – across the river but doing what he had to. A leader. Serious? Business cards? Go for it! But if you do make it two sided – one side for tichels and the other side for becoming divine. Then people’s insides AND outsides will sparkle.
Love, Rivka Malka
